THE World K1-Taekwondo

Taekwondo was conceived as a deadly Martial Arts system. It was tested in the Korean war and the war of Vietnam, through a continent of Korean soldiers that participated in it.  However, over the years and with the transformation of  Taekwondo as an Olympic sports, this complete, battle-tested combat system progressively lost its Martiality, to become the laughingstock and the butt of bad jokes within the Martial Arts community, with little resemblance to its original form besides the name.  This situation has triggered much discontent, leading to efforts to rescue Taekwondo to its glory days.  Unfortunately, the outcome of these well-meaning initiatives does not quite address the core issue:  they remain focused on sport with emphasis on boxing, including in the attire and in the fighting method despite the use of Taekwondo kicks.  “Art” is completely absent in these new dispensations, with abundant bad behavior and the thirst for blood.

World K1-Taekwondo is a Taekwondo platform that allows combatants in different weight categories, in optimal  health conditions certified by accredited medical doctors to showcase the skills of Taekwondo as Martial Art in a combat situation. This entails the use of basic techniques, self-defense techniques, including grappling except when expressly banned by the rules and regulations for safety purposes, in a comprehensive and energy fueled package that is intensely appealing to the public.  These combats are officiated by a referee and other officials, with combatants wearing appropriate and approved uniforms and protective gear. It is open to all Martial Arts styles but in compliance with official rules and regulations.

The approach to combat espoused by K1-Taekwondo has been experimented in actual combats in Jakarta (Indonesia).  Adjustments were made to ensure an optimal outcome. Combat rules were refined, and referees trained accordingly.  The next phase is to organize seminars for a successful roll-out.

World K1-Taekwondo is an initiative conceived by reputable Taekwondo Grand Masters from all continents, that share a common understanding for and passion about the centrality of sparring as an essential component of Taekwondo as a Martial Art.  It is headquartered in Jakarta (Indonesia) with a major office in London (UK) and branches in all continents poised for promotion and expansion worldwide.
